Description: We know that electric cars can charge while braking, through "regeneration", but can it charge while still on a treadmill? We find out in this experiment. Please click SHOW MORE! Motors in electric cars can also act as generators when an external force puts energy into the system, such as the momentum of the car when braking, or when driving down hill. I could I instead put energy INTO a car with a powered treadmill? The external power would be electricity from the wall, through the power cord to the electric motor in the treadmill. That would spin the belt to rotate one of the car's drive wheels. With a standard differential and traction control turned off, it SHOULD charge the car. That's the theory, but will it work in the real world? Why or why not?
